Small, charming and full of life: culture in the Tannheimer Valley is deeply rooted and vibrant at the same time. On warm summer nights, brass bands play concerts in the square and the bells of St. Nicholas Church ring out over the rooftops. Theatre fans enjoy the local stages in Tannheim and Schattwald, while art lovers discover new perspectives in the ‘Augenblick’ gallery. And those who want to feel history will find what they are looking for in the local history museum – or in Felixe Mina's house, a real cultural treasure from the 17th century.
Whether by valley bus, summer mountain railway or bicycle – the distances are short and the mountains are within easy reach. Guests in Tyrol can take advantage of many offers free of charge or at a reduced rate.
Adventure trails, water fun, animals to touch – for little explorers, the Tannheimer Valley becomes a natural playground. The Letter Trail in Jungholz offers puzzles and exercise, while the Smugglers' Trail awakens the imagination. In summer, take the gondola lift up to the alpine pasture for a family picnic, and when it rains, Tanni's indoor playground awaits. Farm visits and pram-friendly paths round off the offer.
Trudge barefoot through the dew-covered grass, greet the morning sun at sunrise on the mountain, get a little closer to the sky in the gondola. Then take a dip in the Haldensee lake – turquoise, clear, refreshing. If you like sports, climb the Aggenstein or cycle along panoramic routes through the valley.
And in the evening? A concert in the village square, a cool drink in your hand and the scent of hay in the air.
Skiing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking are classic activities. Special events such as the International Balloon Festival or the bonfire add to the atmosphere during the cold season.
Sustainability
Since July 2021, a large photovoltaic system has been installed on the hotel roof above the atrium, which has been proven to diligently generate electricity from solar energy for us. We obtain additional electricity from the Schattwald power station.
You can read about the successes and yields of our photovoltaic system here.
Our heating requirements are met by the local heating plant in Grän, which is fuelled by wood chips. Those who meet their heating needs using local biomass-based heating emit almost no CO2 and, in particular, reduce pollutants from their own chimneys, such as particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
That's environmental protection in action! This is another reason why the expansion and switch to renewable local heating is being promoted by the public sector. As a hotel business, this makes us less dependent on oil and gas.
Our free underground car park has two Type 2 charging stations (11 kW each) for electric cars. You can activate the charging station with your RFID card or QR code (payment by credit card or PayPal) and charge your electric car for a fee.
Once you have finished charging, it is best to move your car to another parking space so that the next guests can also use the charging station.
For several years now, we have deliberately avoided using printed documents and have relied on digital storage.
To further optimise this, we first show our guests their final bill on a tablet. On request, we will be happy to send you the bill by email or print it out for you.
Our Tyrol Morgenpost newspaper is available for you in printed form on your breakfast table every day. You can conveniently access the Morgenpost, our Hotel Tyrol brochures, all food and drink menus and further information digitally via our Tyrol app.
The Tyrol app is available for download from the usual mobile phone stores. Enjoy browsing!
The ‘Bewusst Tirol’ initiative recognises businesses in the catering and hotel industry that demonstrably focus on sourcing products from the region. The Hotel Tyrol am Haldensee has also received this award!
Thanks to our extensive use of local products, some of which come directly from the Tannheimer Valley, we are not only considered a role model for a region-conscious tourism industry. Our hotel guests also benefit from the ‘Bewusst Tirol’ seal of approval, which guarantees particularly high-quality cuisine.
Further sustainability measures are already in the planning stage. Do you have any ideas on how we can continue to make our hotel operations more sustainable? Please let us know – we look forward to hearing your suggestions!
